Pape Seck - Danslärare
Pape Seck is a multi-talented artist that was born in Pikine, Dakar, Senegal in a big guewel family. A guewel is a person that is born into a family of artistic professionals such as historians, entertainers and musicians. Guewels in Senegal are influential in all kind of ceremonies like weddings, funerals, births and religious parades and even in politics using song and music. His father is a famous musician and Pape himself have been playing and entertaining all his life.
When he was 13 he started to perform professionally and trained and worked in different sabar- and djembe groups in Dakar and Pikine.
The instruments he learned to play were Djembé, Doun Doun, Sabar, Seourouba, Bougarabou, Asico and Tama (Talking Drum).
Since 2009 he has been touring in Europe in countries such as Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden where he settled 2011. He has a lot of experience of playing at big concerts and festivals and also of organizing big events.
Since 2011 he lives in Malmö, teaching music/dance parallel to tours in Sweden and the rest of Europe. He also travels back to Senegal and organizes dance- and drum trips to Dakar every year.
