ELISABETTA - Danslärare
My name is Elisabetta, I am a professional dancer and la6n dance/urban instructor from Italy with more than 7 years of teaching experience.
My dance career started when I was 5 years old by taking ballet classes for two years, then I started my journey with hip hop and ballroom, and after 7 years I fell in love with la6n dance too. I have danced hip hop and many other urban styles for almost 20 years. Over this period of 6me I had the opportunity to learn from amazing ar6sts like E6enne Jean Marie and be part of a big dance company in Rome, Botega Dance Company, directed by Enzo Celli and Federica Galimber6.
Throughout the years I par6cipated to several urban dance events such as Cruisin’ Urban Dance Event, Trick App Pour La Danse, Female Jam and Ni-y Gri-y. I learned styles like house, waacking, locking, popping, video dance, vogueing, dancehall/ragga jam, a-ending workshops of world class ar6sts like Laure Courtellemont, Camron One Shot, Winelicious Crew, Marco Cavalloro, Omid Ighani, Alessia Ga-a, Alessia Goldoni and many others.
For many years I par6cipated to FIDS (Italian dance federa6on) urban compe66ons with duo and team performances, but also in solos, winning three 6mes the 1st place in the Regional Compe66on of Veneto region and the 3rd place in the 2008 Italian na6onal Cup.
Apart from being a student I was also assis6ng my teachers in the hip hop and la6n dance classes and when I was 18 I had the opportunity to become a dance teacher. I led several hip hop teams of different ages (from 6 to 18 years old), we performed and competed together to local shows and na6onal compe66ons.
At the age of 20 I started focusing more on learning La6n dance styles: cuban salsa, bachata and most of all reggaeton. I par6cipated to numerous la6n dance events like Danzar6, Lignano Salsa Fes6val, Afro La6n Village, Milano Bachata Fes6val, Baila Calabria a-ending workshops of salsa, lady styling, bachata sensual, Dominican bachata, 6mba, afrobeat and reggaeton, learning from incredible ar6sts like Maykel Fonts, Yuniel Gual, Cuban Flex, Denis Torres, Fernando Sosa, Addy Mendoza, Barbara Yimenez, Ataca y Alemana, Daniel y Desiree and others.
Thanks to those experiences I started teaching salsa and bachata partnerwork, Zumba and reggaeton for teenagers and adults in several studios in Italy.
In 2019 I moved to Sydney and lived there for three years. Here I found an amazing dance family at La6n Dance Australia, the biggest La6n Dance Academy in Australia. I started as a student, joining different dance classes like reggaeton, baile funk, samba, cuban salsa, Los Angeles and New York style, dominican bachata, bachata sensual and training with most of the pro teams. ACer one year, I had the great opportunity to become part of the staff, teaching bachata and salsa partnerwork and running reggaeton and Baile funk classes. Me and other four dancers created the GEMS project, a professional dance team which trained and performed together for two years at na6onal dance events like Sydney Bachata Fes6val, Lda Ball and Salsa & Mambo Conven6on.
Since 2020 I also started training online with an amazing interna6onal ar6st from Italy: Vanessa Lacedonia. She introduced me to Dembow, a urban dance style very popular yet not so well-known. Thanks to this, I had the chance to grow my own business, organising and promo6ng reggaeton and dembow workshops in Sydney.
Last year I moved back to Europe and finally started training in person with Vanessa Lacedonia becoming part of her pro team and performing at big dance events like Salsitaly and Woman Dance World.
In conclusion, my mo-o is “sigue tu viaje con tu movimiento”, which to me means keep following your journey with your movement. This is because dance has always been my greatest passion and drive and it will always be with me in the journey of my life, wherever I go. I am excited to open a new chapter in Malmo and share my experience with all of you.
